Cost & Payment Information

Method of Payment

  • All Payments To LWPL Must Be Paid Online.
  • Use Payment Links Provided.
  • Note on payment name of player.

In order for the Session Prize Fund to grow into the thousands the league needs to grow. To grow, our processes must be scalable. Although cash is convenient, it's not scalable and will hinder the league spreading to more locations, more nights, and more divisions. Paying online has also become standard with all leagues. We appreciate your understanding.

With that being said, we the players, thank you for supporting the Lone Wolf Pool League .

Intro

The LWPL is a "Call your pocket" League and uses the WPA rule set(almost exactly the same as 'BCA" rules).  Below you will find a short video summary of the WPA rules. Below the video you will find a link to download a detailed WPA rule book for all games, a link to the WPA websites rules page that is easy and quick to navigate for on the go rule look up, and a link to download the equipment rules.

Scoring Information

Intro

Here at the LWPL the players are in charge. With that said, players are able to change everything including what scoring methods we use. Here are the currently used scoring methods.

Online Scorekeeper

Now that we are a member of the BCAPL, you can use the BCAPL scoring app and score in the same method. Your BCAPL membership number is at the bottom of your FargoRate Player Card found in the setting of your FargoRate App.

1 Point Scoring System

The 1-point scoring system, also known as the win/loss system, is one of the most common scoring methods used for 8 Ball & 9 Ball in pool leagues.

  • Players earn one (1) point for winning each game
  • Players earn zero (0) points for losing each game

 Advantages

  •  Scoring is simple. The score of each game is determined simply by who won and lost. There is no need to track balls, innings, safeties or anything else during or after a game.
  •  There is usually an incentive to win the game. Because wins are one (1) point and losses are zero (0), there is usually a strong incentive to win the game.

17 Point Scoring System

The 17-point scoring system is a common 8-ball scoring method used in pool leagues including some BCA leagues.

  • The winner of each game earns 10 points plus one (1) point for each ball the opponent has remaining on the table.
  • The loser of each game earns one (1) point for each ball pocketed (i.e. solids or stripes) for a maximum of seven (7) points.
  • The combined score from both players always adds up to 17.

 Advantages

  • Scoring is simple. At the end of each game, the score is quickly determined by the balls left on the table. There is no need to track innings, safeties or anything else during the game.
  • Players earn more points.. Players earn points even when they lose games. It's not much fun to play well and make several balls only to get a score of zero (0). With the 17-point system, players often get some credit even when they lose.

Handicapping information

Intro

Handicapping is a great way to make games fun for all no matter the skill level. They are meant to level the playing field where it becomes more about who brought there A game consistently instead of who is the most skilled winning, every, single, time.

How do we handicap?

To handicap the LWPL, we leverage the FargoRate Computer Systems to calculate handicaps for all scoring methods.

Handicap cap?

17point scoring handicap has been capped at 28 balls max as of Spring 25'. We felt that the over 30+ ball advantage some players had in one match was a little too much although it did playout fairly. 28 balls divided by 8 racks in a night is 3.5 ball given per rack, which is half of that persons balls on the table every rack. We feel that capping the handicap at 3.5 ball per rack was still high but fair. Like anything else with the LWPL, the players are in control and can vote to change this in any way if they see fit.

What is FargoRate?

We are firm believers in the FargoRate system. Want more information on FargoRate? Please check out our "Why FargoRate" tab on this website for lots of information having to do with all aspects of FargoRate.

Divisions are a collective of certain teams that meet weekly to compete. They compete during a session for entry and seeding to the playoffs at which there is a cash payout. Division are normally held on the same night every week.

Division Requirements

To start a division we need a minimum of;

  • 6 person min for singles division
  • 4 team min for any doubles or teams division

In House Divisions

In House Divisions will meet once a week at the home location for a set number of weeks to determine seeding and entry to the playoffs.

Traveling Division

Traveling Divisions will have a location set as there home and will play there during home games. During away games they will travel to a set radius to play other teams at their home location. .

Want to start a new division?

As always we strongly encourage you to provide feedback and let us know what days you would like to have what formats.

Session Information

Intro

The LWPL has 4 sessions throughout the year with Playoffs and a paid trip for 1st place at the end of each. They are Spring, Summer, Fall, & Winter. There is a 2 week break in-between each session with a 4 week or more break between Winter and Spring sessions. For exact dates of this years session click the Current/Upcoming Sessions Tab.

go to current/upcoming sessions

Schedules

Schedules are generated using a specialized computer system and never created manually to maintain the integrity of scheduling. The only manually adjusting of the schedule that will be done will be in the case of player joining late. In which case the matches may need to be created and added manually to the existing schedule. Or if there is a bye week on the schedule, a match may be swapped as to have the League Operator have the bye week on the 1st week. This will ensure all players have a game to play on the 1st week/session meeting.

Bye/Forfeit Points

If a division has an odd number of teams and the proper number of weeks in the schedule, all teams could have the same number of byes. In this case, there may be no need to award points for bye weeks. However, if some teams have more bye weeks than others, bye week scoring should be done to ensure fairness or in the event that players choose too. Bye points will be calculated using average points that the team has scored up to that point in the session with a minimum of 4 games. Bye points may not be assessed until week 5 to allow for minimum game requirement.

End of Session

Each session will be played to determine entry & seeding in the playoffs. Bye rounds will be awarded to top finishers. The number of teams to receive a bye round will depend on the number of team in the bracket.

Playoff Information

Entry into the playoffs

The number of teams/players will determine the number of each of the following.

  • The session is played to gain entry & seeding
  • The Top 50% from each division will advance to playoffs
  • The top finishing teams will receive bye rounds
  • The next highest finishing team receive entry
  • There will always be a wildcard spot & drawing
  • Lowest preforming teams will be in wildcard drawing
  • Lowest preforming teams that don't win wildcard are excluded from playoffs

Wildcard Slot

Top performers in the divisions will gain automatic entry into the playoffs. Lowest preforming team or players that did not gain auto entry are eligible for the wildcard drawing.

  •  Team/Player must have played all session matches and have not forfeited any
  • Drawing will be done live in-person(or Facebook live) after last weeks matches
  • Wildcard will play the lowest placed team to gain auto entry

Playoff Structure

Playoff will have the following structure

  • Double Elimination Bracket
  • Top Finishing Teams will receive bye rounds
  • Rest of bracket will be filled out in order of seeding
  • Result in top finishing teams playing top finishing teams
  • Winners Bracket is FargoRate Race of Hot R3
  • Loser Bracket is FargoRate Race of Hot R2
  • Paid Trip to State or World Champ for 1st and cash payout for top  placments if money left in pot.

Example Playoff

For example. 8 players in a division. 4 will end up getting a payout. 5 players auto advance to playoffs and 1 wildcard team for a total of 6 players in playoff, 2 teams didn't make it. 1st and 2nd seeding get a bye round and go straight to round 2 on the winners bracket. 3rd plays 4th. 5th play wildcard. The winner of 3rd vs 4th plays 1st place in second round. Winner of 5th and wildcard play 2nd place in second round. This is continues until the end when cash payout goes to 1st through 4th.

Cash Payout Information

No baiting you to next session

One of the best things about this league is that there is no baiting you along where you always have to be part of the league for some hope of a Vegas trip in the future. I mean.... flights to Vegas are cheap anyways. So, it is important to us that each players commitment to the division they signed up for ends with the division they signed up for! But how will we keep the league going if we don't bait players along???? Our proof is in the pudding. Players enjoy and appreciate a league that actually listens to them and takes action like we have already proven to our players.

Payout to the top 50%(Applies if not enough players for Trip)

Unless a change is voted on by the players, the LWPL intends to pay out the prize fund to the top 50% of players in the format. For example, if there is only 1 division in the entire league with 10 players, we pay top 5 in playoffs. If there is 100 players spread across a few days and a few bars, then we'll payout to the top 50. ....... Let see how far we can take it! With just 8 players it's a few hundred for 1st place. That grows pretty quickly!

1st Place Paid Trip(If enough players per session or division)

As mentioned in the last section, the players spoke. Yes, we all love cold hard cash, be we all want to play at a higher level. And what better way to do that then to join the BCAPL, while not changing anything about out leag(ue, and be able to send our winner to represent us at the Texas, Louisiana, and Oklahoma, State Championships and the Vegas World Championships.
